According to the journalist César Luis Merlo, Chávez’s transfer to the Russian capital is to be confirmed imminently.

Merlo also notes that Monterrey are keen to sign the 27-year-old; however, he has his heart set on a move to European soccer.

Chivas Guadalajara are another Mexican side that have sought to secure Chávez’s services this summer, only to come up against the player’s desire to leave the Liga MX.

Liga MX, Gold Cup winner

Since joining Pachuca from Tijuana in 2019, Chávez has made 143 appearances for Los Tuzos, scoring 14 goals and providing 12 assists.

He was a key part of the side that won the Liga MX’s Apertura 2022 tournament.

Chávez was also a major figure in the Mexico team that lifted the CONCACAF Gold Cup this month, netting in El Tri’s semi-final victory over Jamaica.
