Iván Morales terminates his contract with Cruz Azul
The 24-year-old has been training with the Under-23s. He joined Cruz Azul in February 2022 and made a total of 37 appearances for the club.
Chilean forward Iván Morales, has reached an agreement with the board of Cruz Azul to terminate his contract, which was valid until December 2025. The player has been training and playing with the Under-23 side.
The move came after the club sought to free up a foreigner’s quota, one which was occupied by Morales, during several of the recent transfer windows, without success. Despite remaining part of the first team squad during the current Apertura 2023 tournament, the South American form was not considered in the team’s plans and didn’t feature at all.
San Lorenzo interest
The relationship between the Cruz Azul board and the Chilean soccer player broke down in July of this year, when documents related to the player’s contractual relationship had to be signed. Since then, tensions between both parties have persisted and a solution was sought. Cruz Azul received several offers from various clubs, with an interest expressed by San Lorenzo as one of the standouts. However, the high salary which Morales has commanded with the Celestes prevented him from complete a transfer elsewhere.
Iván Morales joined Cruz Azul in February 2022 and during his time at the club, he has participated in 37 matches, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
