The saga between Jadon Sancho and Manchester United seems to have reached stalemate. After returning to training with the Red Devils in July 2024 and playing games during the pre-season, the English winger has been left out of Manchester United’s squad for tonight’s debut against Fulham at Old Trafford.

The situation seemed to take another direction after the coach’s statements, Erik Ten Hag, in which he highlighted that the tension with the player was a thing of the past: “Yes, as we said, we’ve drawn the line. Manchester United needs good players, and Jadon is a good player. We have drawn that line, and we move on.”

Sancho arrived at Manchester United in the 2021/22 summer transfer window for a $100 million (€90 million) fee and was considered by soccer fans to be a top signing for the club. However, his irregular performances and poor relationship with Ten Hag has seen him sidelined.

Who is replacing Jadon Sancho in the Manchester United vs Fulham game?

Sancho returned to Borussia Dortmund as a loanee in January 2024, where he was able to regain his momentum and Erik Ten Hag’s trust.

The 24-year-old player was not called up for Manchester United’s first pre-season friendly game because he was in his fitness ramp-up process. He officially returned to the Red Devil’s squad in the match against Rangers, where he was in the starting XI; Sancho also played the friendly games against Arsenal, Betis, and Liverpool.

However, the Englishman has been left out of Manchester United’s game against Fulham and replaced by winger Antony. Curiously, the Brazilian player didn’t start in any pre-season games and was benched in the Community Shield match against Manchester City. This decision is most likely because of Sancho’s desire to leave the club with two weeks left before the market closes.

Man United starting XI: Onana, Dalot, Maguire, Martinez, Mazraoui; Casemiro, Mainoo; Amad, Fernandes, Mount, Rashford.
