James Rodríguez set to join Marcelo at Olympiacos
James Rodríguez will join Olympiacos after the Greek team reached an agreement with Al Rayyan to share the player’s salary.
James Rodríguez is poised to leave the QSL (Qatar Stars League) and return to Europe with the Colombian set to sign for Greek giants Olympiacos.
The Piraeus based outfit has reached an agreement with Al Rayyan to acquire the Colombian on loan and the move will see James line up with former Real Madrid team-mate Marcelo. AS understands that the move will be a loan deal with the player’s salary shared between both clubs. All the remains for the deal to be confirmed is the player to undergo (and pass) the protocol medical test and sign the contract.
The Colombian midfielder has made little secret of his desire to return to Europe after his injury hampered spell with Al Rayyan.
Olympiacos appear set to pay 40% of the player’s salary with the Qatari side picking up the tab for the remainder of his salary and the loan deal will see James stay with the Greek side through to the end of the 2022-23 season.
Three Colombians have played with the Piraeus side over the years with James Rodriguez joining a list that features the likes of: Felipe Pardo, Jorge Bermudez, and Juan Pablo Pino.
