All eyes will be on tonight’s encounter between Pachuca and América. Judging by the great rivalry between the two sides in recent tournaments - at least from what we have seen during the start of the Clausura 2024, it promises to be an explosive match.

However, one aspect that makes this particular game even more alluring is the confrontation that take place on the wings between Javairô Dilrosun and Oussama Idrissi. Two European wingers who play for the Águilas and los Tuzos respectively, but had things turned out differently, both players could have ended up in reversed roles. Pachuca tried to signed Dilrosun but the operation never materialized. Instead, they brought in the Dutch-born winger who has Moroccan roots.

Dilrosun deal broke down due to financial differences

During an interview with ESPN, Pachuca President Armando Martínez, commented that signing Dilorsun would have been too expensive -the fee was higher than what the board could afford. Tonight, the Tuzos will face him with his new club: “That was before Oussama arrived. With Javairô we could not reach the price, he is a player with good aptitudes. He has triumphed in Holland, he is a player equal to triple A and he is a high-cost player for Pachuca’s range, but we tried”(...)

“[Feyenoord Sports Director] Dennis te Kloese was very straight with us, but we could not reach an agreement with the player’s representatives - both regarding the salary, as well as the things they asked for in the contract, commissions etc. That’s why he couldn’t come, but some things happen for a reason: Oussama’s door opened and he has an important quality, a very high level. Thanks to the fact that Oussama did not have a contract, a good promoter friend told me about the possibility and supported me in the negotiation and it could be done,” Martínez added.

Likewise, he took the opportunity to wish him the greatest success during his new stage as a new element in Coapa. However, he specified that they are more than happy with Oussama.

“I wish Javairô every success in the league is, but not in the next game... after that, I hope he is successful. That’s how things happened. At no time was there a dispute between América and Pachuca over the player, because we were there a long time before them. We are happy with how it’s all turned out, because Oussama has been impressive and is performing really well” concluded the president.
