It was recently made known that Mexican legend Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández will remain with LA Galaxy for the 2023 season; his contract was automatically renewed with the MLS club after reaching and exceeding the 12 goal mark, a clause that was agreed in the last deal between the two parties.

However, there has been much speculation about Chicharito’s future once his time with the LA Galaxy concludes at the end of the 2023 MLS season: he has been linked on multiple occasions with a possible return to Mexican soccer with Chivas, the team from which the Mexican striker emerged.

Despite these rumours that place him away from the Galaxy at the end of 2023, one of the main objectives for Chicharito is to continue and extend his relationship with the side. In a recent interview with Hugo Sánchez, the Hernández revealed that he is in talks with the board to agree a new deal and keep the relationship between player, club and fans alive.

“I would like to be here for many more seasons. I still have one more season already guaranteed, until 2023, but we are in talks; we hope that the deal can be extended if all of us believe that I can still give contribute to the team”, he explained in an interview for the show ‘Hugo Sánchez presents’.

Chicharito once again LA Galaxy’s MVP

Just this Wednesday, Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández and the LA Galaxy gave a sample of the great chemistry that exists between the striker and the institution, since the Mexican striker was named LA Galaxy’s Player of the Year for the the 2022 season, in addition to also receiving the award for the Humanitarian Player of the Season, thanks to his talks regarding mental health issues, which he gave to the youth sides within the club structure.

Also, the Mexican is on the list of candidates to win the award for the MVP of the MLS season. Were Chicharito win this accolade, he would join Carlos Vela as the only Mexican to receive the highest individual award from the American league.
