Jesse Marsch’s Leeds in danger after poor run

After a promising start to the season for Leeds United, which included a thumping 3-0 victory over Chelsea, the Whites have been in freefall. They appear to have hit rock bottom after Sunday’s home defeat to Fulham, which has seen them slip into the relegation zone for the first time this season.

Jesse Marsch’s outfit haven’t won any of their last eight matches and have lost each of the last four, a sequence which leaves the American head coach skating on thin ice and in serious danger of being dismissed from his post.

Leeds have picked up only two points from the last 24 available, in draws with Everton and Aston Villa, which have come in amongst six defeats, to Brighton, Brentford, Crystal Palace, Arsenal, Leicester City and now Fulham.

Leeds’ upcoming Premier League fixtures

Already in deep trouble, Marsch and Leeds face a tough challenge next weekend when they are due to face Liverpool at Anfield, a fixture which could decide the ex-RB Leipzig boss’ fate.

Things don’t get much easier after that, although the home game against Bournemouth, which comes after the trip to Merseyside, appears to an opportunity for the Whites to make up some ground, at least on paper.

A visit to Tottenham Hotspur is their final match before the break for the 2022 World Cup, while Manchester City (home) and Newcastle United (away) are two incredibly tricky matches to kick off the second half of the campaign after the tournament in Qatar. Leeds’ upcoming fixtures don’t offer much in the way of encouragement.
