Keylor Navas a potential replacement for Ter Stegen at FC Barcelona
Ter Stegen’s injury opens the door for the currently unattached Costa Rican goalkeeper with a return to LaLiga a possibility for Navas.
The injury sustained by Barcelona’s German goalkeeper Marc André Ter Stegen on Sunday at the Estadio de la Ceramic and his projected absence has opened a possible door and return to LaLiga for Keylor Navas.
The Costa Rican stopper is a free agent after his deal with PSG expired last summer with the 37-year-old playing on loan with Nottingham Forest in the Premier League. With over 110 caps for Costa Rica, the goalkeeper would be eligible for a move to the Catalan side with the only other current offer on the table for the 37-year-old being a move to the United Arab Emirates Pro league.
Navas' inactivity
Navas’ inactivity may be a hindrance however for Hansi Flick with the stopper only featuring in six games for the Parisian giants before the loan to Forest with the Costa Rican never really fitting in with the plans of PSG’s Spanish coach Luis Enrique.
At present, everything points to Hansi Flick and Barcelona giving 25-year-old Iñaki Peña a chance to prove himself with the first team and youth team stopper Ander Astralaga may also get drafted into the first team squad with the option to bring Navas back to the Spanish top flight still a possibility for the Catalan giants.
