Kimmich on Barça’s radar
According to Mundo Deportivo, the German midfielder is planning to leave Bayern this summer to start a new adventure. His market value, 80 million euros, complicates the signing.
As reported on its front cover this morning, Mundo Deportivo claims that Joshua Kimmich is on Barça’s agenda this summer. The 28-year-old could become a market opportunity when the next transfer window opens as he is considering leaving Bayern Munich, closing a cycle with the Bundesliga giants and starting a new adventure elsewhere.
Bayern would make things hard for Barcelona
Signing Kimmich, however, would be an extremely complicated operation due to Barcelona’s current economic situation together the problems that Bayern would undoubtedly create - a club with which Barça does not have the best relationships after the Catalans lured Lewandowski away last summer. Kimmich has a market value of around 80 million euros and, according to Mundo Deportivo, Manchester City are also looking into the possibility of signing him as Ilkay Gündogan is nearing the end of his contract and could leave.
The list of midfielders who could potentially join Barça is growing by the day but whether the club will be able to reinforce the position is not clear as they have several other matters to resolve first. Signing Real Sociedad’s Martín Zubimendi, Xavi’s favourite, is almost impossible. Rúben Neves (Wolves) does not entirely convince the coach and there are similar doubts about Sofyan Amrabat (Fiorentina). For now, or at least until Barça have sorted out their financial issues, Kimmich is just a dream.
