Kostas Tsimikas broke his collarbone in Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday, according to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

The 27-year-old suffered the injury in the first half of the Premier League Christmas clash between the sides at the top of the table.

Klopp himself was involved in the incident, with Tsimikas colliding with Bukayo Saka before sending the German tactician to the ground.

The Liverpool defender received treatment from medical staff on the pitch but was then replaced by Joe Gomez.

Tsimikas set for spell on sidelines

The broken collarbone could see the Greece international out of action for up to three months and Klopp has since confirmed that the left-back is facing a spell on the sidelines as a result of the injury, leaving Liverpool with further defensive headaches.

“It was massively overshadowed by Kostas Tsimikas’ collarbone issue, definitely broken, so he is out for a long time,” Klopp said.

“The other issues we will have to see. It is hard for us to swallow with the Robbo [Andy Robertson] situation.”

Liverpool draw with Arsenal

Arsenal defender Gabriel headed home from a Martin Odegaard free-kick early on before Liverpool forward Mo Salah found the back of the net with a superb strike to level things up.

The Gunners will spend Christmas Day at the top of the Premier League table, one point ahead of Liverpool in second.
