Kun Agüero criticises Pep Guardiola’s decisions and asks for Julián Álvarez to play

The former Manchester City striker was very critical of the Spanish coach after the 1-1 draw at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Kun Agüero once again captured public attention during the Champions League semi-final draw between Real Madrid and Manchester City. Through City Xtra, he was very critical of Pep Guardiola after the 1-1 result at the Santiago Bernabéu. The Spanish coach did not make any changes and that meant that Julián Álvarez watched on from the substitute bench.

The former City player defended Álvarez, a current world champion as an important piece in Scaloni’s side during the World Cup in Qatar: “What I don’t understand is why he didn’t include Julián”, he said, “I wonder, but hey, it’s Pep. He doesn’t favour anyone”.

Álvarez missed City’s most important game of the season

The advanced position of De Bruyne next to Haaland complicates things for the former River player on the pitch, despite his recent positive performances. He had started the last two games in the Premier League and in the previous one he scored against Fulham. However, he did not have the opportunity to add minutes to his tally against Real Madrid in City’s biggest game of the season. However, he could be expected to play at the weekend in a key game against Everton.

Agüero insisted on the absence of Álvarez and demanded greater continuity for the young striker: “If it were up to me, I would play with Julián in almost every game, we need him to be there, active and use the spark he has. This season he has participated in 27 Premier League matches and in nine Champions games. In addition, another seven divided between the FA Cup, League Cup and Community Shield.

For his part, Pep Guardiola was confident about the return leg on home soil.
