Kylian Mbappé injury scare for Real Madrid: ‘Discomfort’ for France star
Head coach Álvaro Arbeloa confirmed that Mbappé had asked to be substituted in the 1-1 draw with Real Betis.
A disappointing night for Real Madrid ended was compounded by a potential injury to Kylian Mbappé, who was forced off with “discomfort” in the second half.
Madrid’s LaLiga title hopes were essentially ended by Friday’s 1-1 draw with Real Betis. Mbappé, making his 100th appearance for the club, failed to score and head coach Álvaro Arbeloa revealed that the Frenchman had asked to be substituted late on.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Arbeloa said of Mbappé’s injury status: “I have no idea. He had some discomfort and we’ll see how it progresses in the coming days.”
AS in Spain reports that the initial assessment is that Mbappé suffered a left hamstring strain. He has suffered a series of injuries this season, many stemming from a recurring issue with his left knee.
