Lamine Yamal following Messi’s footsteps at Barcelona
The teenager was one goal contribution away from equalling the same numbers as Argentine star in his first 50 LaLiga games.
After delivering a sensational month of October which included wins over Sevilla (5-1), a comprehensive win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League and topped off with a sensational El Clasico 0-4 win at the Bernabeu, Barça are also looking to maintain the excellent run in November.
The Catalan side got the new month off to a solid start with a 3-1 derby win over city rivals Espanyol with Dani Olmo bagging a brace along with a Raphinha strike. Despite not getting on the scoresheet, Lamine Yamal was on hand to show off his Kopa Trophy pre-game with the teenager delivering yet another accomplished display for Hansi Flick’s side.
The young Barça player has has now played 50 official LaLiga matches in the Spanish top flight and with his assist for Olmo’s opening goal in the twelfth minute, Lamine has been involved directly in 24 goal contributions (14 assists/10 goals) with the teenager falling one short of the milestone created by Barça icon Lionel Messi in his first fifty appearances in the famous ‘azulgrana’ jersey with the Argentine bagging 21 goals and providing 4 assists.
Lamine Yamal now has six goals and eight assists in 15 games in the 2024-25 season for Barça, but he contributed in one of the goals as Spain overcame Switzerland (1-4) in the UEFA Nations League.

FC Barcelona’s next game in the Spanish top flight will be a difficult visit to San Sebastian to face Real Sociedad next weekend but first up is a complicated trip to Belgrade as they face Red Star in the UEFA Champions League (Wednesday,
