CUAUHTEMOC BLANCO 2003MEXSPORT

The Águilas of América are experiencing one of the sweetest moments in recent years, as spirits are high after beating the Cruz Azul team 6-0 and they are currently fighting for the top positions in the table. Throughout history, the Coapa team has been a protagonist of Liga MX due to the fact that it was filled with great players. Here’s our selection...

Cuauhtemoc Blanco

The so-called idol of Tepito was one of the best players in recent times, since he always appeared in the most important moments. However, his honors record does not favor him as much since he only won a single league championship and that was in the Clausura 2005 against the Tecos.

Carlos Reinoso

For many American fans, the Chilean is the best foreign player of all time in the Liga MX and played nine years for the azulcremas, also scoring 95 goals in 364 games. In that time he won two leagues, a Champion of Champions and an MX Cup. As technical director he has a league championship, two promotion league championships and one cup.

Hector Miguel Zelada

The Argentine goalkeeper arrived in Mexico to mark an era in national soccer with the Águilas and thanks to his good performances he won the affection of the fans. Zelada was a three-time champion with the capital side and won the so-called ‘Final of the Century’ against the Chivas Rayadas of Guadalajara.

Alfredo Tena

The ‘Captain Fury’ was a fundamental piece of arguably the best América in history, while the defender was also able to reach the Mexican National Team. With the Eagles he managed to lift six league trophies, in addition to three Champion of Champions.

Louis Robert Alves

Zaginho’ is América’s all-time leading scorer, having scored 188 goals in 428 games. The forward of Brazilian descent collected two leagues and two Champion of Champions.

Enrique Borja

The arrival of the Mexican striker to América was a great controversy, as he came from rivals the Pumas of UNAM. Despite receiving criticism from the fans, the Mexican player overcame it by winning two leagues, a Champion of Champions and a Copa MX.

Antonio Carlos Santos

The Brazilian arrived in Mexico as an unknown, but with the Águilas he became a legend thanks to his outstanding goals. During his tenure, he won two South American leagues, two Copa MX and also lifted the Concacaf Champions League four times.

Norbert Outes

The Argentine left the historic Boca Juniors to join the best América of all time, where he was a leading figure andlead the scoring ranks in the 1982-1983 campaign.

Pavel Pardo

The native of Guadalajara was one of the best midfielders in América at the beginning of the millennium and one of the best in the Mexican national team. The ‘Baby’ won the Summer 2002 championship and also the Clausura 2005.

Christopher Ortega

The América youth squad player is, for many, a legend of the club, as he was able to obtain six league titles, three Champion of Champions, three Concacaf Champions Leagues and two Inter-American Cups.
