Liga MX Clausura 2023 season in numbers

As the Clausura winds down ahead of the Tigres-Chivas final, we look at some of the numbers behind the Liga MX season.

The Liga MX Clausura 2023 season is coming to a conclusion with Chivas del Guadalajara set to meet Tigres Autonomous University of Nuevo León in the two legged final. Liga MX have been encouraged by many aspects of this tournament both on and off the field with an increase in match going attendances and games enjoying more ‘ball in play’ time along with more goals being scored.

The Clausura 2023 games have seen an average of 57 minutes and 33 seconds of playing time with the Women’s MX League seeing an increase of ‘ball in play’ time by seven minutes to an average of 54 minutes 18 seconds.

Goal fest

432 goals have been scored in the Clausura 2023 which is the highest tally since the Clausura 2016 tournament.

Fans and FAN ID

An increase in attendance of 16% has been experienced in the Clausura 2023 with 3.8 million fans enjoying games over the course of the season which averages out at 24,096 fans per match. This showing sees Liga MX has having the fifth best attendance record in world football.

This year, Liga MX introduced a new FAN ID scheme with the initiative seeing more than 1,190,000 supporters registered in the database.
