Linda Caicedo will kick off her 2023 season with the Colombian national team. Coach Nelson Abadía will count on her for the three friendly matches of the 2023 Revelations Cup, where they will face off against Costa Rica, Nigeria, and Mexico starting next week. She is one of the key figures of the team in this Mexican tour.

Where next for Linda Caicedo?

After a successful 2022, both personally and as a team player with Colombia and Deportivo Cali, Caicedo was widely expected to sign with one of the top European clubs. Barcelona, Manchester City, and Chelsea are reportedly among her options in the market. In addition to these three teams, there are reports from Cali that Real Madrid is close to acquiring her. This was reported by journalist Alfonso Morales from the Noticiero 90 Minutos on his Twitter account, stating that “there are still some details to be sorted out” before she becomes a player for Los Blancos.

Caicedo’s team denies rumors of Real Madrid move

AS reached out to Caicedo’s management team regarding this possibility, and the response was that it is “just a rumor.” The player and her agents have not yet decided on her future destination and will wait until she is of an appropriate age to move, on 22 February, when she turns 18.

Linda Caicedo Gives a Nod to Chelsea

The forward spoke earlier this week at the launch of the Copa Bon Bon Bum and expressed that she is calm about her future. She did, however, make specific reference to Chelsea, one of her options in England, but revealed that there are “several offers” on the table.

“Chelsea is an excellent club, an excellent league, with excellent players. I have received several offers and I am very grateful for that. I think it’s due to my great year and I have to focus on making the best decision. Whether it’s Chelsea or any league, the important thing is to contribute as a person. I am analyzing, seeing what’s best for me both football-wise and personally,” Caicedo said from La Paila, Valle del Cauca.
