REAL MADRID FEMENINO
Linda Caicedo is back and ready to go for Real Madrid’s 23/24 season
The Colombian showed her class at the Women’s World Cup and is now back in Madrid as the club prepare for the start of the 23/24 season.
Linda Caicedo returned to Real Madrid Femenino duty this week after the Women’s World Cup tournament, in which she highlighted herself as one of the top talents in global women’s football.
Caicedo’s second surname is Alegría, which in English means ‘joy’. A perfect word to describe the player who has not stopped smiling since she returned to Madrid and the Real Madrid Femenino training sessions after her fantastic World Cup.
In the 23/24 season, Linda will be looking for her first ever trophy with Real Madrid, after they lost the 22/23 Copa de la Reina final to their city rivals, Atlético Madrid last season. The upcoming Liga F campaign looks set to be tighter than ever before, with the three top teams in the league now also claiming various world champions, after Spain’s triumph in Sydney against England.
Caicedo ready to have a big role at Madrid
“We’re back!” said Linda to the Real Madrid social media cameras as she stepped out onto the training pitch once again, when she also remarked that it was “very sunny and very hot”. The forward has shot to the top of the hierarchy of her national team, especially after her now famous golazo against Germany that she whipped into the top corner after snaking past two opponents inside the box.
The 18-year-old is Real Madrid’s big bet for the future, the team that continues to push to try and reach the levels of FC Barcelona Femení, a true behemoth in women’s football across the planet. Las Blancas go into the new season with a trophy on the brain, whether it be the league, cup or Champions League.
What is Linda Caicedo’s record at Madrid?
Last season, Linda played 770 minutes across 13 games with Real Madrid (10 in the league and 3 in the cup), where she scored 2 goals and got 4 assists. Madrid manager, Alberto Toril, always made time to mention the player and highlight her performances: “she is a player who gives us that bit of extra talent up front that teams need to win games”, he said.
Now, with European experience and more confidence under her belt, Linda hopes to increase her level of responsibility and impact at Madrid. The Colombian will also look to work alongside and grow using the experience of the returning world champions: Misa, Ivana, Olga, Rocío, Zornoza, Tere, Athenea and Oihane.
