Lionel Messi returns to the United States to continue his MLS charge with Inter Miami
Lionel Messi returned to duty with Inter Miami in Florida after a short trip with the Argentina national team.
The international break came to an end and early on Wednesday, Lionel Messi returned to Miami to report back with the MLS team.
The player switched his thoughts back to his club once again having participated with Argentina in their first World Cup qualifying match against Ecuador, as well as making the journey to watch his teammates win against Bolivia in La Paz.
The Inter Miami star flew directly from Bolivia to Miami on a private plane to report back as soon as possible with his club after not featuring for Argentina in the match played in La Paz due to fitness concerns.
Messi may not play for Inter Miami against Atlanta United
Now back in Miami, Messi is getting ready for an intense schedule with an Inter Miami team that still has a huge fight ahead in order to qualify for the MLS Playoffs: the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner has been essential for the side in everything they have done so far this season.
Messi will look to get ready again now that the few days of rest he was gifted with Argentina are over. The player felt discomfort in the game against Ecuador and was rested. Given this worry, his participation this weekend against Atlanta United is not yet guaranteed, but there is no doubt that the captain of the Herons will do everything possible to arrive at the Mercedes Benz Stadium ready to go.
Messi’s messy September and October
With his return to Miami, Messi is emotionally ready and knows that it will not be easy to continue the extraordinary success that he has had so far with his new club team. The long run of upcoming matches begins with the visit to Atlanta United on Saturday, September 16.
After that, on Wednesday the 20th, they host Toronto FC at DRV PNK Stadium and four days later they visit Orlando City in a new showdown of the Florida Clásico. It’s non-stop for the 36-year-old.
Another final awaits Messi in the USA
After this game, Messi and Inter Miami will go for the US Open Cup title against Houston Dynamo on Wednesday, September 27. The busy month ends with the clash against New York City FC on Sunday, September 30.
Finally in October, Messi and company visit Chicago Fire on the fourth of that month and 3 days later they face Cincinnati at home, a tie that will mark the last match for the Argentine star before returning back to the Albiceleste to play the qualifier games against Paraguay and Peru. And, breathe!
