Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami team-mate out for the rest of the season
Messi’s Inter Miami team-mate Ian Fray will miss the rest of the season after suffering another serious injury.
Inter Miami player Ian Fray picked up an injury against Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup that means he will miss the rest of his club’s season.
On Saturday, Inter Miami confirmed that the youngster suffered a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury - his third in the same number of years - and he will now miss the rest of the campaign, including the Leagues Cup and MLS.
Fray was challenging for the ball with Cruz Azul’s Moisés Vieira, however, he ended up falling badly and left the pitch in serious pain. Gerardo Martino was forced into a change and Noah Allen replaced Fray.
Fray’s nightmare
The Florida native has had terrible luck in terms of injuries and missed all of 2021 and 2022 after suffering similar injuries in preseason.
“First of all, thanks to everyone who came by. There are some things in life that you can never fully understand, but you should be grateful and take a second to realize that other people are having it worse. With that being said, don’t think for a second that I’m going to let anything stop me. I’ll be back,” the Inter Miami player wrote on Instagram.
Messi dedicates Inter Miami victory to Fray
At the end of the match against Cruz Azul, new Inter Miami player Lionel Messi dedicated the victory to his team-mate and admitted that Fray was suffering in the locker room after seeing that he had suffered a serious injury in the Leagues Cup match.
