Liverpool agree £6.5m deal with Aberdeen for Calvin Ramsay
Liverpool have identified the highly-rated Scottish full-back as a long-term rival for Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Liverpool have agreed a £6.5m deal to sign Aberdeen right-back Calvin Ramsay. The 18-year-old is due to travel to Liverpool to undergo a medical ahead of completing his move to Anfield.
The £6.5m fee agreed will see Ramsay become Aberdeen’s record sale, surpassing their current record of £3m from Nottingham Forest for Scott McKenna.
SFWA Young Player of the Year
Liverpool have identified the highly-rated Scottish full-back as a long-term rival for Trent Alexander-Arnold. Ramsay was named SFWA Young Player of the Year this season.
Ramsay will be Liverpool’s third signing of the summer window after the arrivals of Uruguayan striker Darwin Núñez from Benfica and Fabio Carvalho, who joined from newly-promoted Fulham.
There was also interest in Ramsay from clubs in England, Germany and Italy, according to Sky Sports.
Bologna offered around €975,000 in January for a loan move with an obligation to buy for more than €3.85 million. Ramsay’s choice was Liverpool, where he will share a dressing room with one of his idols.
“I look up to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s crosses and technique, and to get to that level would be great,” the Scottish U21 international said earlier this season.
