Liverpool and Manchester City have been handed new dates for their respective Premier League matches against Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Liverpool’s match with Southampton has been moved to Tuesday 17 May, five days before the end of the 2021/22 league campaign, to accommodate their FA Cup final against Chelsea, which takes place at Wembley on 14 May.

Man City will face Wolves on Wednesday 11 May. The fixture was postponed earlier this month due to City’s FA Cup semi-final, where they were beaten by fellow title-chasers Liverpool.

Busy period for City

The rescheduled match against Wolves means City will play three league games over a seven-day period.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, who are in Champions League action tonight, will play two league matches and the FA Cup final in a week, as they chase a quadruple.

Guardiola’s City top of the table

Man City currently sit top of the table, just one point ahead of Liverpool.

City beat Real Madrid 4-3 last night in an epic Champions League semi-final first leg at the Etihad. Liverpool face Villarreal at Anfield and could meet City in the final in Paris on 28 May.

Remaining Premier League fixtures

Liverpool’s remaining league matches are: Newcastle (A), Tottenham (H), Aston Villa (A), Southampton (A) and Wolves (H).

Manchester City’s remaining league matches are: Leeds United (A), Newcastle (H), Wolves (A), West Ham (A) and Aston Villa (H).

It’s going to be a fascinating end to the Premier League season as both sides face a couple of tricky fixtures between now and the end of the campaign.
