Gakpo joins Liverpool from PSV after an impressive World Cup with the Netherlands.

Liverpool have announced the signing of Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven.

Gakpo will officially become a Liverpool player at the start of the January transfer window after agreeing personal terms and undergoing a medical.

A club statement released on Wednesday read: “We have reached an agreement for the transfer of Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven, subject to a work permit, and the forward will join at the start of the January transfer window”.

The 23-year-old forward arrives after an impressive World Cup with the Netherlands in Qatar, where he scored three goals in five appearances.

He told Liverpoolfc.com: “I feel really good, I’m really excited to be here. I’m looking forward to start training and start playing for this amazing club.

“I think this is a great club for me to come in and try to show what I can [do] and try to help the team to achieve more beautiful moments than they already did in the past years.

“I think for me personally it’s also good to develop here and there’s a lot of great players here [who] I can learn a lot of things from.”

The exciting forward played 159 across all competitions for PSV and netted 55 times. He will wear the No.18 shirt at Anfield.
