Liverpool fans give Real Madrid 2 a.m. fireworks display
On the eve of the Champions League round of 16 first leg at Anfield, Reds supporters showed their appreciation of the visiting team.

It may not be the most innovative way to do it, but it’s a tried and tested formula. While the Real Madrid players attempted to get a good night’s sleep ahead of their massive clash against hosts Liverpool, Reds fans took to the street to, ahem, welcome them to the city.

Fireworks for Real Madrid in Liverpool
Carlo Ancelotti’s players were staying at the Innside Hotel, just four kilometres from Anfield, and this was common knowledge, allowing those who wanted to attempt to a chance to disturb their resting hours.
As can be seen in the COPE clip below, it was a rather impressive fireworks display, one that the locals will hope can be replicated by Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nuñez, Virgil van Dijk and co. later on Tuesday evening.

Whether or not these sort of acts make any difference to the players, we’ll have to ask, as modern windows, blinds and ear plugs are pretty effective at cutting out light and noise.
Tonight’s Champions League tie is a repeat of last season’s final, in which a single goal from Vinicius Jr was enough to hand Los Blancos yet another continental triumph.
