Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino on Atlético Madrid’s radar
The Brazilian forward will leave Liverpool at the end of the season.
Atlético Madrid are interested in Roberto Firmino, according to reports in the UK. The Liverpool forward’s contract expires at the end of the season and the Madrid club are one of those who are interested in the Brazilian.
At the age of 31, he has lost a starting role at Anfield, although he is still a player with a lot of quality. Other teams, such as Inter, are also keeping an eye on his future. In 19 Premier League appearances for Liverpool, he has scored eight goals and provided four assists, a good return for a player who has been in and out of the side.
Atlético looking for a forward
Atlético need to strengthen their attack for next season and sporting director Andrea Berta is keeping a close eye on players who are out of contract. The main target is still Marcus Thuram, the Borussia Mönchengladbach forward, who also finishes his contract at the end of this season with the German club.
It remains to be seen what decision the Spanish club will take at the end of the season. Memphis Depay is in good form. Álvaro Morata is also making a name for himself and Atlético will have to make a decision about the future of João Félix, who is on loan at Chelsea. Antoine Griezmann is key to Diego Simeone’s plans for next season.
