Liverpool summer transfer window 2024: signings, departures, ins, outs…

Following Jürgen Klopp’s departure as head coach, Arne Slot has kept the vast majority of the German’s squad together.

Liverpool begin life after Jürgen Klopp in the 2024/25 season, in which former Feyenoord manager Arne Slot faces the challenging task of following the incredibly popular German in the Premier League.

Liverpool’s intriguing transfer business

The Anfield club’s transfer activity under the new coach has been intriguing, in different ways, if far from prolific.

Up until last couple of days of the summer transfer window, their only piece of business had been the transfer of goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia for $33.19 million. However, given Alisson, one of the Premier League’s top goalkeepers, is still part of the squad, the Georgian has been immediately sent back to the Spanish side on a season-long loan.

On the penultimate day of the window, The Reds then snapped up Federico Chiesa from Juventus for only $13.28 million. The Italian international has struggled to recapture his best form since tearing his ACL in January 2022 but was previously one of the most highly-rated attackers in Europe, which means Liverpool will hope they’re getting a bargain.

The Merseysiders have also managed to rake in over $50 million for the sales of young duo Sepp van de Berg and Fábio Carvalho to Brentford, even though they made only 25 appearances for the club between them.

Liverpool haven’t lost any of their key players from previous seasons and having a settled roster and team should help Slot as he adapts to his new surroundings.

The Reds’ attacking options were already among the best in the Premier League and adding Chiesa at such a reasonable price should give them even more firepower as they look to challenge at the top.
