Liverpool’s Salah claims new Champions League record
The Reds forward added another landmark to his extraordinary European career.

Mohamed Salah added yet another milestone to his glittering Liverpool story on Wednesday night, reaching 50 Champions League goals with a superb finish against Galatasaray at Anfield. In doing so, he became the first African player ever to reach that mark in the competition.
Salah hits UCL 50
It was a moment that felt fitting. Salah has built his reputation on delivering on the biggest stages, and this was another reminder of his enduring impact in Europe. His 50-goal tally has been built almost entirely in a Liverpool shirt, with 47 of those strikes coming for the Reds after earlier goals for Basel and Roma. He did not score in the Champions League for Chelsea.

The goal also arrived in a high-pressure setting, with Liverpool trying to swing the last-16 tie back in their favor after losing the first leg in Istanbul. Salah had earlier missed a penalty, but his response underlined the mentality that has defined his time on Merseyside.
For Liverpool supporters, the record is another entry in a long list of Salah achievements. For African football, it is a landmark of its own. And for defenders across Europe, it is a warning that even now, in a season where he has struggled to impress, the Egyptian King remains one of the Champions League’s most decisive figures.
