One of Inter Miami’s primary desires for the upcoming season, if not the main one, is to secure the services of Luis Suárez. The player, who turns 37 in January, is very close to the end of his contract with Gremio de Porto Alegre and is set to join The Herons, reuniting with Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino. According to the latest information, it is a done deal that the Uruguayan striker will play at DRV PNK Stadium.

Suárez-Messi reunion readied in Miami

According to the journalist César Luis Merlo, the legendary goal scorer for the Uruguayan national team and FC Barcelona is set to land in South Florida to become the number 9 for David Beckham’s franchise. This move is expected to make Inter Miami’s attack one of the most feared in Major League Soccer in 2024. It’s reported that Suárez’s contract with Inter would be for one season with an option to extend for another.

Following the rumours that emerged in the summer transfer market, it was mentioned that Suárez’s next step, given his inability to leave the Brazilian club, would be to wait for the conclusion of his contract and then make a move to the North American league.

Many would argue that Miami’s needs lie in defence, but another high-profile player will no doubt bring more revenue in other ways, and Messi will be happy to have another friend on board.

Gemio in third

Suárez continues to play in Brazil, and the team he’s currently with defeated Coritiba 1-2 last time out. While he didn’t score in this match, the victory has propelled his team to third place in the table, ahead of teams like Flamengo, Bragantino and Atlético Mineiro. They sit three points behind Palmeiras and six points behind Botafogo as they approach the final stages of the Brasileirao Serie A.
