Luka Doncic gives Real Madrid transfer update

Doncic played for the LaLiga giants’ basketball division at the start of his career but attempted to ‘recruit’ a player for the soccer team.

Update:

Luka Doncic has proven over the years he is a man of many talents, although few would’ve expected him to be involved in revealing Real Madrid’s transfer business in the world of soccer.

Of course, the Los Angeles Lakers star has a vested interest in the LaLiga club having started his career in their basketball division. After leaving Slovenia at the age of 13, he made his way through the Madrid academy and played in the first team between 2015 and 2018, when he moved to the Dallas Mavericks as a 19-year-old.

Alphonso Davies shoots down Doncic and Real Madrid...again

Following the Lakers’ victory over the San Antonio Spurs at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, Doncic met Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies, who has been heavily linked with a transfer to Real Madrid for some time. And the NBA star had a proposition for the Canadian, on one condition.

“You coming to Madrid?” Doncic asked. “I’ll give you this jersey if you’re coming to Madrid!”

“Ahhhh, it doesn’t look like it,” came Davies’ response.

(The pair swapped Lakers and Bayern jerseys anyway, obviously).

Davies signs new contract with Bayern

Of course, the news shouldn’t come as a huge surprise to anyone who has been following the Davies saga. After months of being chased by the Spanish giants, the Canada international eventually agreed a new contract with Bayern Munich in February, which runs until 2030.

Doncic has had a lot going on recently, so we can forgive him for not being across Davies’ contractual situation. Or perhaps he was hoping his former club would still be trying to the deal some time in the future, even if they have to pay a fee? Either way, it doesn’t appear as if it will be happening any time soon.
