Luka Modric to miss Real Madrid’s Champions League tie with RB Leipzig
The Croatian, as reported by the club, joins Benzema, Valverde, Ceballos and Mariano on the sidelines.
Real Madrid have confirmed that Luka Modric will not play in the Champions League match between Real Madrid and RB Leipzig on Tuesday, with the Croatian withdrawing from the squad ahead of the clash in Germany.
“Luka Modric won’t play in tomorrow’s Champions League group stage match between Real Madrid and Leipzig, at the RB Arena. The Croatian had been named in Ancelotti’s squad for the game, but is a last-minute withdrawal and won’t be travelling with the team to Leipzig,” Madrid said in a statement.
Benzema and Valverde to miss Leipzig tie
It’s another major loss for Carlo Ancelotti, who will have to adapt his starting eleven once again. Fede Valverde and Karim Benzema will also miss the match in Germany. The Uruguayan received a sneaky tackle from Papu Gómez in the La Liga fixture against Sevilla and the knock has ruled him out of tomorrow’s game. The Ballon d’Or winner is suffering from muscle fatigue in the quadriceps of his left leg and will also be rested during the week. In both cases, they are expected to return to face Girona on Sunday.
