Manchester City consider move for PSG midfielder Marco Verratti
The Italy international has received criticism from the club’s supporters in recent times.
Marco Verratti could leave PSG this summer, as per reports in France. The Ligue 1 leaders are reportedly open to listening to offers for a player who is believed to be seeking a new challenge.
The Italy international has received criticism from the club’s supporters in recent times - something he believes to be unfair. His team-mates Neymar and Lionel Messi have also had to put up with their fair share of criticism as the French side stumbled through another campaign.
It is not the first time that Verratti has been linked with a move away from the club. In 2017, the player asked to join Barcelona, but president Nasser Al Khelaïfi made him post a video on the club’s official social media apologising to the fans.
Real Madrid move unlikely
As reported by RMC Sport, Verratti had Real Madrid down as an ideal destination, with his friendship with Carlo Ancelotti being one of the decisive factors, however, Los Blancos already have Jude Bellingham as their priority for their midfield.
Manchester City interest
His salary - €12m gross - could put clubs off submitting an offer for him, although Le Parisien claim that Manchester City have enquired about the midfielder.
Despite signing a new contract recently, which keeps him at the club until 2026, PSG sporting advisor Luís Campos would be open to letting the 30-year-old go should the right bid come in.
