Man City beat Atleti in Champions League first leg
Man City run out 1-0 winners on the night, and thoroughly deserve to. It could have been 2-0 or 3-0.
Atleti kept City at bay in the first half, but Guardiola's side opened them up in the second half. The introduction of Foden changed the game. He played in De Bruyne for the only goal of the game on a wet night at the Etihad.
It's not the end of the world for Simeone's side. I think they would have taken a 1-0 loss this morning.
FT: Manchester City 1-0 Atlético Madrid
Vrsaljko picks up a yellow for a foul on Grealish.
City are just seeing this one out now.
There will be two minutes of added-on time.
City really could have had two or three tonight. Atleti are holding out for just a 1-0 now.
City continue to threaten. De Bruyne crosses. Savic clears it and it's still 1-0 to the home side.
De Bruyne had options either side of him, but goes for goal and it sails well over Oblak's bar.
Gabriel Jesus picks up a yellow and will miss the second leg.
We have some handbags on the touchline as Correa smashes the ball against Grealish, who is on the ground. Simeone and Guardiola are both over but it has settled down.

Atleti change:
OFF: Joao Felix
ON: Lemar
Foden set up the chance, and has been superb since coming on.
De Bruyne shoots from just inside the box but Savic gets a vital touch to it as Pep puts his hands on his head.

Atleti are also the first side to face both Manchester United and Manchester City in the knockout stages of a European competition in a season since Juventus in the 1976-77 UEFA Cup.
Kondogbia goes down in pain. Rodri just catches him with his studs. De Paul sends in the free. Laporte clears for City.
Atleti have looked to break City down with a couple of counterattacks tonight but their plan was to keep this as tight as possible and a 1-0 defeat would not be the worst all things considered.
Cunha is fouled by De Bruyne and it's a free to Atleti on the halfway line. They have 15+ minutes to find an equaliser.
De Bruyne gives City the lead
Kevin De Bruyne's second half strike has given City the lead in Manchester.
Manchester City 1-0 Atlético Madrid
Foden picks out De Bruyne, who slots low past Oblak. It's brilliant from Foden, as City find that space down Atleti's left again, and this time make it count.
City score!
Goooooooooooooooooaaaaaaalll!
De Bruyne fires past Oblak!
Rodrigo De Paul is given a yellow, the first of the game, for taking out Grealish, who is only on the pitch.

ON: Jesus, Grealish, Foden
Sterling goes over inside the box but there's nothing in it. City players and fans alike are screaming for a penalty. The referee gets it spot on.
Foden is about to come on for City.
Laporte heads over from a corner. It's a free header six yards out but he can't keep it down.
Confirmation of those Atleti changes.
De Bruyne is wasteful again, overhitting his left wing cross and it heads straight out of play.
That's a brave change by Simeone, taking off two midfielders and a forward for two forwards and a midfielder.
Atleti make triple change
OFF: Koke, Griezmann, M. Llorente
ON: De Paul, Correa, Cunha
De Bruyne takes a corner from the left. Atleti head it away.
Atleti are camped in their own box now. The 5-3-2 formation has become a 5-4-1 now. Atlético will make some changes soon.
Mahrez is fouled by Koke. City have another free kick. Sterling finds some space and fires it wide of the post.
De Bruyne finds a gap in the wall but Oblak keeps it at 0-0.
De Bruyne's low free is saved really well by Oblak.
De Bruyne takes it short. Mahrez is fouled by Lodi and City have another free even closer to goal.
Reinildo takes out Mahrez. City have a free in a very dangerous area.
City have yet another corner. De Bruyne whips it in from the right. Atleti clear.
Atleti break. Griezmann finds Marcos Llorente in the inside right channel, but the Spaniard chips it straight into Ederson's hands. It was poor from Llorente, in a rare counterattack for Atleti.
Subs from both teams are warming up. Simeone has Correa to take on as an attacking option. Guardiola has several options too.
Griezmann sprints deep into the City half, falls over under pressure, and ends up overhitting it out into touch.
Gundogan curls an effort wide from 16 yards. It's a good chance, but the German can't keep it on target.
There are no half-time changes to report.
Atleti get us underway for the second half.
Both Guardiola and Simeone are looking quite pensive in their dugouts as the second half begins.
The teams are on their way out for the second half. It's 0-0 if you're just joining us.
City fail to break Atleti down
City have had 69% possession so far, but have struggled to break down Simeone's five-man defence.
HT: Man City 0-0 Atlético Madrid
Pep Guardiola said yesterday that he overthinks a lot. He will have some thinking to do in the next 15 minutes as he looks for a way to break through this stubborn Atleti defence. Simeone, on the other hand, will be delighted with his side's first half performance.
HT: Manchester City 0-0 Atlético Madrid
The referee blows the whistle for half-time. There was no added-on time.
Simeone's plan is working perfectly so far.
Foden and Grealish are on the City bench. Maybe Pep will turn to one of those soon.
Bernardo Silva falls over this time, about 20 yards from goal. It's not a free, despite more appeals.
De Bruyne goes over in the box. Felipe barely touches him but City appeal for a penalty. The referee says no.
City are exploiting the inside right channel. Atleti can't prevent crosses coming in from the right. De Bruyne finds a pocket of space in that area. His cross is low and finds Oblak's hands.
Marcos Llorente is also a fan of English grounds. His dog is called 'Anfield' after his brace for Atleti at the famous old English ground in 2020.
Vrsaljko plays in Marcos Llorente, who is in an offside position.
10 minutes until the break at the Etihad.
City work it out to Cancelo again. The low cross from the right is straight at Oblak, who is happy to collect.
Former Atlético player Rodri shoots from distance. Atleti block it. It's then recycled to Mahrez on the right but Atleti manage to defend it.
De Bruyne now proceeds to take out Joao Felix over at the touchline. It's a free-kick to the away side.
Kevin De Bruyne is making his 50th Champions League appearance for City tonight.
Vrsaljko goes to ground to tackle Sterling. The right-back does really well. City now have their next corner. Can they make it count? De Bruyne sends it low to the front post and it's cleared by Joao Felix.
Every time Joao Felix has the ball, there are three or four City players around him. He has been in super form of late and scored a brace against Alavés on Saturday night.
Cancelo has probably seen the most of the ball so far. He's done Lodi with a drop of the shoulder and then sends it into touch.
This season, Atleti average only 48.8 per cent possession across 41 matches. They have completed 14,533 passes, with 7,317 of these coming in the opponents' half. In comparison, City have registered almost 16,000 successful passes in opposition territory.
It remains 0-0 if you're just joining us. The Atleti fans are signing their hearts out. There have been no real chances thus far.
Cancelo wins the ball back but then kicks it out of play. Very unlike him. Lodi heads down the left, but his low cross is unable to find any Atleti player.
Simeone is far less concerned with his side having the ball, but instead the focus is on staying compact and robust, drawing a mistake. City have another corner. It's worked short to Gundogan on the edge of the box but he skies it well wide.
Cancelo crosses from the right. Oblak is out again.
Mahrez crosses from the right, but it ends up in Oblak's hands. The Slovenian will be hoping for another clean sheet in Manchester tonight.
City knock it about as Atleti sit in their 5-3-2 formation. The camera turns to Simeone and Guardiola, who are both wearing the same jackets.
Atlético are playing in a low block, as expected. City have been the brighter but Oblak has yet to be tested. Atleti's options tonight are corners and counterattacks.
Sterling goes on a run down the left. He then falls over (outside the box) but there are appeals for a penalty. City take the corner. Felipe heads clear.
The Brazilian defender is in in place of the injured José Maria Giménez tonight.
Laporte climbs highest to head the corner wide of Oblak's post.
Cancelo is seeing plenty of the ball on the right. Lodi and Reinildo will be doubling up on him tonight. The ball falls to De Bruyne in the box. Vrsaljko blocks the shot. It's a city corner.
The touchline is already very busy. Guardiola is on his feet, instructing his players. Simeone is practically playing left-back for Atleti. Two different styles of play, two coaches who have massive respect for one another.
Joao Felix goes on a mazy run but is surrounded by four City players, who eventually win it off.
Cancelo shoots from distance... it's blocked by the Spanish side.
Kondogiba takes out Cancelo and it's a free to City. Kondogbia is in in place of Héctor Herrera tonight.
Atlético have set up with a back five, with Kondogbia sitting in front. City will have plenty of the ball.
It has been almost six years since a team coached by Guardiola went up against Simeone's Atlético Madrid, when Bayern Munich faced Los Colchoneros in the Champions League semi-finals.
Joao Felix and Griezmann have taken up the forward roles for Atlético. Griezmann picks out Vrsaljko with a long-range ball. City manage to win it back.
Laporte looks to pick out Sterling running in behind, with a long left-footed pass. It's just too far for the England international.

Diego Simeone on Man City pre-match:
"What I like most about teams that play well, like City, is the effort they put in to win the ball back, to play attacking football. It's nice to watch them play, they are constantly evolving, as are their players. What I like most is seeing Sterling, De Bruyne, pressing, being active, not giving up on any ball. In addition to the talent, they add that work rate that all coaches like."
