Manchester United travel to Anfield this weekend to take on Liverpool as they come to terms with a hugely disappointing week for the club.

United were humiliated at home to Bournemouth in the Premier League last weekend and then knocked out of Europe in midweek after losing 1-0 to Bayern Munich at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag talks

United boss Erik ten Hag believes that left-back Luke Shaw will return in time for the trip to Merseyside on Sunday.

Shaw - one of the club’s more experienced players - limped off in Tuesday’s Champions League defeat to Bayern with a hamstring problem before being replaced by fellow full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

“Luke Shaw, he trained this morning. So we think he is available for Sunday,” said Ten Hag.

Maguire out

Former United captain Harry Maguire also picked up a knock in midweek and will miss Sunday’s clash against Jurgen Klopp’s men.

“Harry, he will not be available for the coming games, but we don’t think it is for the long term,” continued Ten Hag.

Rashford return

The Dutch boss also confirmed that out-of-form forward Marcus Rashford will be back for the crucial Premier League fixture, while French forward Anthony Martial remains out.

“Marcus Rashford. He will [be back, but] Martial not,” he added.

The Old Trafford outfit will also be without Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, Casemiro, Mason Mount and Christian Eriksen.
