And that's it!

FT: Manchester United 3-1 Everton

In the end, the quality came through for Manchester United, who only had to push a little harder to get the Everton wall to break. The defeat means they are through to the next round, but it also puts Frank Lampard's future in serious doubt, as his side are spiralling downwards.

Conor Coady went from hero to villain with an unlucky own goal but it was great work from Rashford, who put in an MVP performance on the night. The Garnacho penalty was harsh on Everton, but on the balance of how things went over the 90, they probably didn't deserve to go through.

as.com

Rashford sends Pickford the wrong way and that's the result done and dusted!

Ten Hag claps politely.

Hmm... I'm not sure about that one. It looked very weak.

Oh! Lovely!

Bruno plucks the ball from the sky, spins on a sixpence and hits the bouncing ball towards goal. Wide.

Godfrey makes a potentially match-saving tackle to stop Rashford from breaking down the left. A fantastic challenge.

Godfrey picks the ball out of the air beautifully from a corner, but his cross bounces out for a goal kick.

Fred tries to channel his inner Paul Scholes from the corner, but hits the volley weaker than a mouse's kiss.

Pickford actually got a touch. Corner!

Onana booked for the tackle.

Lisandro wins a free kick high up the pitch after Onana needlessly jumps into a challenge. Shooting range.

Rashford wins a corner after breaking away down the left. Coady was not happy with the lax defending from Everton.

as.com
86

Lisandro does excellently well to block the ball as it rolls out of play, Godfrey was all over his back.

Goal kick. And Manchester United are in no rush to take it.

Everton now, thanks to Manchester United's defensive changes, have begun to take the initiative and are pushing the hosts further back.

It's very playground football now, as both teams revert to type and continue to lose ball after ball, causing the crowd to stir...

Twenty minutes to go, and Manchester United look happy to see the rets of the game out by keeping the ball. Everton remain in their deep shape as the home side pass calmly around the back.

PICKFORD HUGE SAVE!

BRUNO TRIED AN OUTRAGEOUS SHOT FROM DISTANCE THAT DIPPED AND CURVED BUT PICKFORD GOT A STRONG HAND TO THE BALL!

as.com
64

EVERTON!

HUGE CHANCE!

And they're still attacking...

Coleman's cross hit De Gea's foot and Mykolenko almost put the rebound in, but it was well blocked.

as.com
62

Onana does well to flick the ball over Eriksen in his own half after Pickford sent him a hospital pass out from the back. Everton are under pressure by Manchester United in all areas.

as.com
60

Godfrey booked for a very late challenge on Rashford. He's maybe even slightly lucky that it was a yellow, more orange for me.

as.com
58

The dominance-meter has swung right round to the red shirts now, and the fans have begun to sing "you're getting sacked in the morning" to Frank Lampard, who I assume is not impressed by neither the vocals nor the lyrics.

as.com
56

Everton look at sixes and sevens right now, they can't hold onto the ball and Manchester United are taking full advantage of the spaces they're leaving out wide.

as.com
54

Antony finds space on the right, cuts inside, and spins a low shot into Pickford's gloves.

as.com
52

Rashford, on the left, turned one way then the other, turning Séamus Coleman inside out, before firing a low cross across the goal-line.

Coady was the unlucky defender in the way and he deflected the ball past Pickford.

Iwobi is still down, and he looks fairly distraught, holding his shirt over his face. The rest of the Everton team have crowded round him in support.

It looks like an ankle issue.

Iwobi down. Medical staff are straight on the pitch.

Rashford plays a sublime pass over the top for Martial but the Frenchman can't make anything of the attack.

That's all for now!

HT: Manchester United 1-1 Everton

Cor, blimey. What a mad game of football.

I don't remember watching a game with so many loose passes and simple errors, the biggest of them all David De Gea's, who inexplicably let the ball go through his legs from a simple cross, allowing Coady to poke home.

For the most part, Manchester United have been on top, but the amount of errors we've seen from both sides means this could end up 7-7...

as.com
45+1

Martial wins a corner by booting the ball straight at the defender from close range. A classic trick.

as.com
45

2 minutes added.

as.com
44

Rashford takes the ball from the left and drives inside before cutting back on his left foot, causing at least 2 players in blue to fall over.

Fortunately for them, the resulting shot is blocked easily by rest of the Everton defence.

as.com
43

Gray gets the final pass of a counter attack wrong and Old Trafford breathes a sigh of relief.

It's incredible how vulnerable both teams look tonight...

as.com
42

Everton continue to sit deep and look happy to counter - it's worked so far...

as.com
40

ERIKSEN OFF THE BAR!!!

WHAT A HIT FROM THE RIGHT CORNER OF THE BOX!

It swerved and dipped just too late - Pickford had no chance!

as.com
39

Iwobi is a great player. I have no idea what position he is, but he tries things like he's in the school field. He has just almost played in Coleman with an outrageous pass from deep, one that many players would be too scared to try.

as.com
37

Varane with some frankly unexpected skill on the right side to slurp past Onana before putting a cross into the box. Cleared.

as.com
36

A couple of minutes now where we've gone back to what we had before: both teams unable to keep the ball. Everyone's either very excited of very nervous. Or both.

as.com
33

Everton work the ball excellently in the middle third, pinging passes to each other before breaking wide with Mykolenko. His cross is delivered in too heavily however, and the attacks falls apart.

as.com
32

SAVE FROM PICKFORD!

Manchester United counter after Gray's attack breaks down. Rashford picks up possession and drives diagonally from left to right, shooting from the edge of the box. It's a great save from Pickford, down to his right.

as.com
31

CHANCE FOR ANTONY!

The ball was swung in by Bruno from the right and it dropped to the Brazilian, whose shot was blocked.

as.com
30

Bruno is still chatting away on the pitch, he's not happy.

as.com
29

A booking for Bruno for talking. Because nobody talks about Bruno.

as.com
28

Bruno does well to spin and find space in the centre before laying off to Rashford.

Bruno then fouled Onana: the game is just turning from chaotic in the football senseto chaotic in terms of discipline

as.com
27

Rashford gets angry with Séamus Coleman after the winger judged that he had been fouled by Godfrey.

Six of one, half a dozen of the other for me, both players fouled each other.

as.com
26

Casemiro fouls Gray as he tries to launch a counter attack. No booking, of course.

as.com
25

Tarkowski tries to find a through pass to Mykolenko but, guess what?

It doesn't find a teammate and goes out.

as.com
24

OK, I've just witnessed what must be 10 consecutive passes that have failed to reach a teammate, causing me to say quite loudly "this is crazy".

as.com
23

Everton have dropped right back into a defensive 4-4-2 shape as Manchester United probe and look for spaces to attack.

as.com
22

We are back underway...

as.com

(That's Casemiro, by the way)

as.com
20

Onana is down after a challenge from the Invisible Man

as.com
20

Twenty minutes have gone here in what feels like 20 seconds...

What a ludicrous start to this FA Cup game. Manchester United have had more chances but a mistake (which has been the theme of the game) has let Everton back into it.

as.com
19

Martial shoots after the ball falls to him from ANOTHER Everton mistake and the shot is blocked by Tarkowski!

as.com
17

PICKFORD SAVES A HUGE CHANCE!

This game is bonkers. Manchester United break down the left and Pickford saves a hugely powerful low drive from Rashford!

Structure? Calm, controlled possession? What are these things? Long live football anarchy!

as.com

A CRAZY GOAL!

Varane fails to collect a cross and falls over, leaving Maupay to fire a low cross from the right.

The ball hits De Gea's legs and somehow goes through them, allowing Coady to tap in from close range!

as.com
as.com
14

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLL EEEEVERTOOOONN!!!!

as.com
12

CHANCE FOR EVERTON!

Iwobi does well to switch the play from right to left and the ball works it way to Gray, who rifles a shot from the edge of the box down to De Gea's right.

It smacks off the post before hitting the back of De Gea's hand and out for a corner.

as.com
11

Iwobi's pass is cut out by Casemiro on halfway and he plays it forward.

Rashford and Eriksen both try to find space for a shot but it bounces back to Casemiro himself, who slices a volley over the bar. All Manchester United so far.

as.com
10

Everton try to build an attack, I think. But the ball just ends up going straight back to the home side within a few passes. Eek.

as.com
9

Antony wastes a good chance down the right as he performs his customary cutback, to the delight of the defenders.

as.com
8

Manchester United's high press is tearing Everton to pieces, they can't do anything other than play aimless long balls towards the strikers.

as.com
7

MARTIAL GOES CLOSE FROM THE EDGE OF THE BOX!

Another moment of self destruction from Everton, who lost the ball on the edge of their own box.

as.com
6

Lampard, as you might expect, has the face of a child that received no Christmas presents.

as.com
as.com

Martial gets the ball on halfway, turns and plays out left to Rashford. The winger runs down the pitch and plays a simple pass to the back post and Antony is there to tap in. Suicidal defending from Everton.

as.com
4

GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLL

ANTONY

1-0!!

as.com
3

Everton lose the ball on the edge of the box which falls to Rashford.

Godfrey steps in well, steals the ball, and Everton counter.

as.com
2

Rashford causes hearts to race with his first touches, forcing Onana to dive in and make a well-timed challenge.

as.com
2

Everton start by playing 2 long balls in 50 seconds, both of which look for Iwobi in behind.

The home side defend comfortably.

Ten Hag on why Luke Shaw is starting again as a centre-back

He did really well as a centre half, he makes a good back four, there's good cooperation [with Malacia and De Gea].

It's also a tactical choice but he has also constructed a good centre-back position with [Varane].

Eric ten Hag, Man Utd manager

No Dominic Calvert-Lewin for Everton tonight, a big loss.

Here's the explanation as to why Dominic Calvert-Lewin isn't in the starting XI for Everton tonight.

De Gea is on for a record tonight

Where does DDG rank in Manchester United's best-ever goalkeeper list?

3rd? 2nd? 1st?

as.com

Frank's feeling the pressure

The Toffees have not registered a win since their victory over Crystal Palace back in October last year, and manager Frank Lampard looks on the edge in terms of whether he will keep his job or not.

The club survived last season thanks to some fantastic results at home that meant they crept away from Burnley and Leeds at the bottom end of the table. This year, however, they've failed to consolidate that 'fortress' feel at Goodison and the crowd are not a happy bunch right now. This game tonight could well be make or break for Lampard.

Reports suggest Manchester United want to sign Ajax forward Mohammed Kudus

Manchester United are casting out their net in search of another star to add to their squad. The latest link comes in the form of a World Cup star, who certainly put his name on a lot of clubs' Christmas shopping lists in Qatar.

Remembering Gianluca Vialli

As you will have heard, the world of football today has lost a great person. The sad news of Gianluca Vialli's death was confirmed earlier in the day.

Vialli, who enjoyed a stellar career with Sampdoria, Juventus and Chelsea and earned 59 caps for Italy, was first diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2017. He was given the all-clear a year later only for the illness to return.

Check out the full piece, beautifully written by Paul, remembering Vialli's life.

Team news and recap: Everton

How do I put this nicely? Everton’s last game - how do I put this politely? - left room for improvement as they lost 1-4 to Brighton at Goodison Park.

Boss Frank Lampard is under pressure to show the board and fans some of the talent that got Derby County from 7th to 7th when he was manager of the then-Championship side.

The FA Cup is a welcome break from their league struggles, but they are taking on a Manchester United side that seem to have hit form at the right time.

In terms of team news, Garner, Townsend and Patterson are injured; Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Anthony Gordon will both go through last-minute fitness checks to see if they can play.

Team news and recap: Manchester United

Eric ten Hag’s Ronaldo-less Manchester United have won every game since they’ve come back from the World Cup, with the last match a 3-0 victory against lowly Bournemouth in the league.

Casemiro, Shaw and Rashford were on the scoresheet in that comfortable victory for The Reds.

In terms of team news for tonight, Martial is fit and could play, while Antony is a doubt

Van de Beek and Dalot are both injured and will not feature.
