They outclassed United in their own back garden.

It's a convincing 3-0 win for Manchester City in the 191st Manchester derby.

The City goals at Old Trafford came from Erling Haaland (2) and Phil Foden. 

Haaland hits McTominay in the wall and the full-time whistle goes!

Evans fouls Rodri needlessly on the edge of the box. Bruno Fernandes complains to the referee but that won't change the official's mind.

City have a free-kick in the last minute of the game.

There will be four minutes added on.

United simply haven't been good enough and City will be worthy winners in the 191st Manchester derby. 

Ten Hag's side have only scored 11 goals in 10 league games this season.

Today's victory will see City move to within two points of league leaders Tottenham. City have 24 points, while Spurs sit on 26.

A poor afternoon for Manchester United.

The City fans are dancing in the rain. The United fans are heading for the exits. It's never easy losing to your city rivals. 

Foden makes it 3-0

Foden kills United's hopes.

Haaland collects the loose ball and lays it off to Foden, who finishes into an empty net. The United defending is shambolic.

Foden picks it up between the lines on the right. His low cross is blocked and it remains 2-0 to City. 

A United goal now would make for an interesting last 10-15 minutes.

City, as they do, have kept the ball, sucking the energy out of United as the game has evolved.

Ten Hag makes a double change.

Haaland!

Grealish slips him through, and he tries to clip it over Onana, but the Cameroon international denies him a hat-trick from close range.

It's an excellent run from Rashford, who gets in behind. What a time that would have been to score!

RASHFORD!

He takes it down on his chest and shoots... but the effort flashes across goal and heads slightly wide.

United have a corner on the right. Stones heads it away.

Haaland has scored 20 away goals in fewer appearances than any previous Premier League player (23 games):

With so much effort out of possession, several United players are starting to tire.

Hojlund hasn't touched the ball in this second half, which tells you just how dominant City have been.

It's very hard to see a way back for Manchester United.

Pep has unlocked the creativity in Alvarez, who had been used further forward before Kevin De Bruyne picked up his long-term injury.

Only for Onana, it could be 4-0 or 5-0 to City.

City pack the box and are toying with United. The ball is played to Grealish, who drives it across the six-yard area. There's just too much on it for Foden. 

Onana saves from Grealish, who cuts in from the left, before driving goalward.

It's a good hit, but Onana punches it away. 0-2

The away section is rocking after that second Haaland goal.

City are on the front foot, trying to build on their lead against their cross-city rivals.

Haaland has his 11th goal of the season. He scored a brace in midweek and has another here at Old Trafford.

It's a huge uphill task for United now.

Silva clips it to the back post, where Haaland peels away to head it home.

This time the former Dortmund man scores from the spot, sending Onana the wrong way.

Manchester City lead 1-0 at half-time thanks to Erling Haaland's first-half penalty.

Onana keeps United in the game, and there goes the whistle for half-time!

Haaland is six yards out and his header is flying into the net until Onana goes flying to keep the big Norwegian striker out.

Maguire heads it wide. 

It's an excellent save to deny the Scotland international. United go so close to equalising before half-time.

The man in form is denied by a huge stop from Ederson.

United clear the corner.

City win yet another corner as Walker gets down the right. He wants to pull it back to Haaland but Evans uses his wise head to read the situation. City absolutely love those pull-backs in the half spaces.

Ten Hag leaves the touchline to go back to his chair for a quick word with his staff before the break. What will he tell his players at the break? They're 1-0 down, but still in this one.

Amrabat and Foden are booked for going head-to-head, literally.

Grealish is getting battered on the left! This time Bruno Fernandes jumps and fouls the English winger. The former Villa man wins another free for his side.  

City continue to threaten, as United sit camped in their own half. United have been unable to produce those much-needed transitions to relieve the pressure. Rashford has been quiet, too.

Onana taps the curling free-kick over the bar. City have their fifth corner; it's headed away by Maguire. 0-1

The ball is fizzed out to Grealish, who gets in a one-v-one with Evans. The Northern Irish defender takes Grealish out of it. City have a free on the edge of the area...

Evans heads Alvarez's corner away. City regain possession and are able to recycle it back to Gvardiol.

Hojlund races through on goal but is forced wide. He eventually finds Bruno, who blazes over from a tight angle on the right.

It's the City fans making all the noise now, as their side take the lead.

Haaland scores his tenth goal of the season, placing it low to Onana's left. The United keeper is sent the wrong way.

He shifts it onto his right foot and bends it from the edge of the area, on the left-hand side of the box. Onana pushes it out for a corner. 

Stones is playing in a very advanced role, further forward than Rodri, who is sitting slightly deeper. Silva, Foden and Grealish are picking it up in the half spaces as City build.

The ball falls to Rodri on the edge of the area, but the former Atlético Madrid man fires it high into the Stretford End. 0-0

There was a minute's applause for United legend Sir Bobby Charlton pre-match.

Stones is moving into midfield, alongside Rodri. Both players offer excellent protection for the defence, essentially operating as two No 6s.

Alvarez looks to find Haaland but it goes out to Foden on the right. 

United are on the back foot now. Maguire eventually manages to clear it. 0-0

Today is certainly a huge test for Manchester United and they don't have their strongest XI available. 

The City players arriving earlier. It looks like they've ditched their European pre-match outfits.

André Onana was the hero at Old Trafford in midweek, saving a penalty against FC Copenhagen to give United their first European win of the season.

"They [United] are always dangerous. It doesn’t matter the managers – and I have seen a few – they are always a tough opponent with the quality of the individual, the character, the momentum. They have the ability not to be on top and then just score goals. We know their quality, no doubts about that.

"When I was at Barcelona and Bayern, when I travel to Old Trafford, always special. It’s a special place and here it is special for our fans."

Where are Manchester United in the table?

Ten Hag's side are currently eighth, with 15 points from their opening nine games. It has been well below par for United this season.

They've won their last three games in all competitions, but quite unconvincingly. 

Where are Man City in the Premier League?

After Tottenham and Arsenal’s Premier League victories this weekend, City are currently third in the Premier League table, five points off Spurs in first place.

Manchester City win in midweek

Two former Manchester United players are at Old Trafford today. 

Patrice Evra has often spoken about his relationship with Park Ji-sung. The pair were really tight when team-mates at the club. Carlos Tevez was also part of their crew in Manchester during the Sir Alex Ferguson days, but ended up leaving to join City!

Erik ten Hag admitted in his press conference on Friday that Brazilian midfielder Casemiro may miss this weekend’s derby. The former Real Madrid man picked up an ankle injury on international duty with Brazil.

Defenders Luka Shaw, Lisandro Martínez, Tyrell Malacia and Aaron Wan-Bissaka all remain sidelined through injury, while winger Jadon Sancho has been left out of the squad due to his personal issues with Ten Hag.

Akanji out

City will be without Manuel Akanji against United. The 28-year-old is serving a suspension after being sent off against Brighton last time out. Midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is the other important absentee and is not expected to return to action until the new year.
