In the final hours of the transfer window, United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, has confirmed that with the arrival of Antony there will be no more signings this summer. This closes the door on the arrival of Sergiño Dest who has just a few hours to find a new club in his search for playing time that will allow him to arrive in peak form at the FIFA World Cup.
“Of course, Aaron Wan-Bissaka will stay in. So this squad, we will go from September to January, but we will play with this squad this season,” said ten Hag. “When there is a great opportunity you always have to be alert at this top club.”
Last minute offers for Sergiño Dest
The US international was keen on joining Manchester United because it would fit his style of play. Also reuniting with ten Hag would have opened doors to showcase his talent and earn a more prominent role with the Red Devils. Now Dest will have to look elsewhere for playing minutes and Villarreal could be his best option before the end of the transfer window.
