Martin Ødegaard replaced for Arsenal: is he injured? Will he play against Bayern Munich?

The Norwegian midfielder was taken off in Arsenal’s Premier League loss to Aston Villa, with Arteta revealing physical problems for the player.

Update:

Martin Ødegaard was taken off by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta in the Premier League game against Aston Villa at the Emirates. Alarm bells were raised when the player was substituted and they were in overdrive by 90 minutes, as the Gunners lost 0-2, putting their title challenge at risk.

In a dire day for Arsenal fans but a fantastic day for the neutral, Liverpool lost at Anfield before Arsenal made City fans smile even more, failing to overcome Unai Emery, who exacted revenge on his former employees.

Is Martin Ødegaard injured? Will he play against Bayern Munich?

To make matters worse, Ødegaard was physically not fit enough to complete the entire second 45 minutes, with Emile Smith-Rowe coming on in his place.

Most worryingly for Arsenal fans will be the tight turnaround before their upcoming UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg tie against Bayern Munich (Wednesday April 17, KO 3:00 p.m. ET / 12:00 p.m. PT.), to be held at the Allianz Arena in Germany.

After the game against Aston Villa, Arteta said that Martin “felt something” and that “he was not able to continue”. As of the time of writing, there is no other information regarding the injury to the Norwegian.
