FC BARCELONA
Mateu Alemany reportedly to stay at FC Barcelona - will he organise transfers at the club this summer?
The director was linked with a move to English club, Aston Villa, but it now appears that he has had a change of heart and will stay in Spain.
Option A: The sun-kissed, turquoise waves collapse gently onto the bed of golden sand with a calming swoosh that is is only slighted drowned out by the buzz of people in front of them, all watching as nature’s cycle gives off, along with the unique mix of Mediterranean elements that contribute to the crisp yet calming aroma in the air, a sense of tranquility. The sun, after a hard day’s work, is sliding away behind the buildings, leaving the sky a burnt orange with shades of rosy pink, but that’s only the sign that the night is about to begin and soon, fresh seafood caught directly from the vast expanse ahead of you will be ready to eat.
Option B: The double-decker, mud-splattered bus is so full it’s actually tilted to one side. As a result, you’re expecting the drive to not let you on. It’s fine: I suppose the rain - even though it’s just too heavy to be considered comfortable - must be better than the drip and squelch of condensation inside the metal box and the heavy breath of fifteen strangers all panting, desperate to get off. There’s a hole in the roof of the shelter and by now the makeshift newspaper shield has succumbed to the elements and has become a paper-mache paste between your fingers, meaning the increasingly large droplets of ice-water deflect harshly off your nose. As I say, still better than being on the- oh, he’s letting you on.
I can understand why Mateu Alemany chose Barcelona over Birmingham.
Alemany will organise Barcelona’s transfers
Mateu Alemany, Barça’s football director, will continue at FC Barcelona next season. The club had previously announced that he would leave on June 30 to start a new challenge, said to be Aston Villa, but now all signs point to that choice being reconsidered. Alemany has not confirmed it yet, but according to sources from Barça, the decision has been made and will continue. Alemany had not only decided to leave Barça because of the astronomical offer from Aston Villa, but also due to certain discrepancies in the planning that, perhaps, have been resolved over the past few days.
On May 2, Barça announced Alemany’s goodbye after having claimed the League with their victory against Osasuna and the Madrid’s defeat in San Sebastián. Despite having a contract until June 2024, Mateu Alemany had made his message clear to the president of Barça, Joan Laporta, who said that “his intention is to start a new path, but guaranteeing that he will complete the entire summer market with us” Now, Mateu Alemany will have to share work with Deco who knows well both Raphinha and Aubameyang.
