Now that the Mexican Football Federation has appointed Diego Cocca as the new head coach for the 2026 World Cup cycle, more changes are going to happen within the organization. One of them will be to replace the president Yon De Luisa, who was in charge in Mexico’s last process, and it has been reported that Mauro Culebro will take over the job.

Culebro has vast experience in Liga MX and he is currently the president of TIgres UANL. According to sources from AS Mexico, the Mexican Football Federation will offer him the job and if he accepts to be the new president then he will be appointed once Yon De Luisa’s contract expires in May.

If Mauricio Culebro decides to stay at Tigres UANL, then the Mexican Football Federation will consider Mikel Arriola for the job for the new World Cup cycle. The Felines are not too keen on Culebro leaving as they already parted ways with Diego Cocca mid-tournament. They are aware of the offer and they will sit down with Culebro to talk about it during the next couple of weeks.

Tigres set to lose Culebro and Cocca

We are focused on Tigres and Mauricio as well. I don’t know who said [Mauricio] was a candidate, but he is very prepared to take on the job. If he is on the shortlist it is because he has earned it with his work. Tigres is a solid franchise and Mauricio right now is focused on the two tournaments we are playing this year,” said Antonio Sancho, Tigres sporting director.
