Guillermo Ochoa made an immediate impact since arriving at Salernitana during the winter transfer window and he even won several Man of the Match awards in his first appearances. The Serie A signed the Mexican international to replace the first-choice goalkeeper Luigi Pepe, who suffered a serious injury during the World Cup break.

The former Club América product made six appearances in Serie A and conceded 17 goals, but he was praised as one of the best players for Salernitana each match. Unfortunately for Guillermo Ochoa, Pepe has recovered from injury and head coach Davide Nicole made the decision to drop the Mexican international to the bench.

Ochoa’s future is up in the air

The 37-year-old is aware that he won’t see much minutes at Salernitana as long as Luigi Pepe is healthy so now he is looking to sign with another team at the end of the season. The shot-stopper has made impressive performances with Salernitana in the Serie A and he has caught the attention of Italian giants AC Milan and Inter Milan.

The Rossoneri have yet to find Mike Maignan replacement and Ciprian Tatarusanu has not been a reliable option for them because he lacks experience. So It has been reported that AC Milan are interested in signing Guillermo Ochoa for the upcoming season during the summer transfer window when his loan-spell at Salernitana ends.

On the other hand, Inter would also like to bring in the experienced shot-stopper because the first-choice goalkeeper André Onana might retire at the end of the current season. The 26-year-old announce his retirement from international football after being sent home from the 2022 World Cup with Cameroon and he could also call it quits at club level.
