Mbappé catches Cavani - who are PSG’s all-time top goalscorers?
Kylian Mbappé's goal against Marseille on Sunday made him PSG’s joint top goalscorer with Edinson Cavani with 200 total goals.
PSG won 3-0 against Marseille in their Le Classique match on Sunday and two of those goals were thanks to Kylian Mbappé. His second goal brought his total up to 200 goals for Paris Saint-Germain, making him the joint top goal scorer alongside Edinson Cavani.
The French club has only been around since 1970, but has already become one of the best ever. Cavani played with the club from 2013 until 2020 and became the top goalscorer with 157 goals in 2018. His highest scoring season came the year before when he finished the season with 49 goals in 50 games across all competitions.
Mbappé scored his very first goal with PSG in his first match with the club, on September 8, 2017. Now tied for top goalscorer with Cavani, Mbappé is on track to surpass him soon. In 2021, he also became the first player in Ligue 1 history to score and assist the most goals in the same season with 28 goals and 17 assists. He is also the youngest player to score 40 goals in the UEFA Champions League. In January of this year, he became the first player in PSG history to score five goals in one game.
