The MLS is once again shaping up to be one of the hottest destinations ahead of this summer’s football transfer window. As the current season winds down, several players are nearing the end of their contracts—both in Europe and in the U.S.—and are now eyeing potential moves.

One of the biggest shocks came this Friday, when Kevin De Bruyne announced his departure from Manchester City. After winning everything with the club, the Belgian playmaker’s next move is now up in the air. San Diego FC has emerged as a potential destination, making the next few months crucial in deciding his future.

But De Bruyne isn’t the only star considering a switch to MLS this summer. Several other big names are also making headlines as they explore new opportunities or remain uncertain about their next steps—MLS included.

Antoine Griezmann: The French World Cup winner has long been on MLS clubs’ radar—especially LAFC, a team he’s been linked with multiple times. While it’s not clear what his decision will be at the end of the season, current signs suggest he might stick with Atlético Madrid for now.

Thomas Müller: In another surprise twist, German midfielder Thomas Müller is reportedly looking to leave Bayern Munich. MLS teams like FC Cincinnati, San Diego FC, and LAFC have already been floated as possible landing spots, according to German outlet Bild.

Virgil van Dijk: Liverpool’s defensive rock is also facing an uncertain future. While the club focuses on holding onto Mohamed Salah amid rumours of Trent Alexander-Arnold heading to Real Madrid, Van Dijk could be on his way out. A move to MLS—or perhaps Saudi Arabia—might be on the horizon as his time in England winds down.

Neymar: No transfer window would be complete without Neymar rumours. Inter Miami and Neymar have long seemed like a match waiting to happen. While the move didn’t pan out in the winter due to financial and league regulation hurdles, the Herons may take another shot this summer—especially with Neymar’s contract at Santos set to expire in six months.
