The Mexicans continue to reign in the Liga de Expansión MX and, as an example, they make up the four coaches of the semifinalist teams of the Clausura 2023 tournament.

Celaya, Tapatío, Atlante and Atlético Morelia are the teams that are in the run-up to the grand final and all of them are led by managers born in our country. Let’s have a quick look at all four...

Paco Ramirez (Celaya)

The former assistant of Ricardo La Volpe in the national team, Paco, is currently in his second season as the coach of Celaya. During this time, he has managed to lead the team to the top spot in both tournaments. Despite his achievements, Paco is eager for revenge in the Clausura 2023 season, after being defeated by Atlante in the final for the title during the previous season, Apertura 2022.

Ramírez is familiar with being a champion in the silver circuit, having previously led Tepatitlán FC to the title.

Gerardo Espinoza (Tapatío)

In a short amount of time, Gerardo has established himself as one of the top coaches on the circuit. He possesses a keen understanding of how to play in his division, and this has led to his success. Currently in his second season as the Chivas helmsman, Gerardo has led his team to the semifinals after falling short in the playoffs during the Apertura 2022 season. He previously won the championship in the Expansion League as the manager for Tampico Madero during the Guardianes 2020 season.

It appears that, following Tapatío’s conclusion in the ongoing tournament, Gerardo will be appointed as the new coach for the U23 national team.

Mario Garcia (Atlante)

Today, the numbers support him as the best coach in the Expansion League.

Under his command, Atlante has played in three finals, won two titles and conquered the Champion of Champions, making these Los Potros de Hierro (The Iron Colts) the most dominant team on the circuit.

Carlos Morales (Morelia)

Of the four semifinalists, Carlos Adrián is the newest.

Morales took over at Morelia on matchday nine, after the dismissal of Argentine Gabriel Pereyra, and not only managed to qualify the Michoacáns for the league, but also made it one of the four best teams in the tournament.
