Mexican teams know their CONCACAF Champions League path
Atlas, León, Pachuca and Tigres already have rivals lined up for the round of 16 of the regional competition.
The 2023 edition of the CONCACAF Champions League already has its protagonists and matches confirmed for the first round of the competition, where four Mexican teams eye glory on the bigger stage.

In a draw held in the United States, the clashes that will take place in the round of 16 were announced. The Mexican teams that will participate in the 2023 edition are Atlas, who earned the right to the competition for being the two-time Mexican champion in the 2021-22 season, León, who reached the Final in the 2021 Apertura, and Pachuca, who did the same in the 2022 Clausura.
Due to the fact that the Foxes reached the two finals in the soccer year, Tigres took fourth place as the team with the most points collected, handing them the the fourth Mexican place in the CONCACAF Champions League. Find out more about the qualification process.
What was the CONCACAF Champions League draw?
After the draw, the duels were as follows: León, a team that has not had the best results in the regional contest, will face Tauro from Panama, while Pachuca will face Motagua from Honduras. For their part, the red and blacks of Atlas, a team that will make its debut in the tournament, will clash with Olimpia of Tegucigalpa.
One of the most attractive duels in the first round of the CONCACAF Champions League is the one between Orlando City and Tigres. The other matches will be: Violette vs. Austin FC, Real España vs. Vancouver Whitecaps, Alajuelense vs. Los Angeles and Alianza vs. Philadelphia Union.
When will the Champions League round of 16 be played?
According to the CONCACAF schedule, the first leg of the round of 16 is scheduled to be played between 7 and 9 March 2023, while the return matches are scheduled from 14 to 16 March 2023.
