Mexico face its first big test of the year in June when it faces the United States in the semi-finals of the CONCACAF Nations League. The USMNT have had the upper hand in the most recent clashes with their neighbours to the north - the US have won seven of the 15 meetings during the past decade with El Tri managing just four. Diego Cocca’s team will be aiming to reverse the trend in Las Vegas this summer.

While money won’t affect what happens out on the pitch, Mexico no longer boast the most valuable squad in the CONCACAF zone. Both the United States and Canada now surpass their regional rivals in economic value. Stars such as Alphonso Davies and Christian Pulisic signed lucrative contracts with major European sides, which has boosted the overall market value of their squads.

Economic value of the CNL Final Four teams

  • United States: €242 million
  • Canada: €192 million
  • Mexico: €171 million
  • Panama: €18 million
