Update:

Put Casemiro on the list. The list as long as a witch’s bathrobe that all top level players eventually end up on: post-30-years-old and linked to MLS.

The Manchester United midfielder has been linked with a move to the North American league as his contract in England winds down, with Saudi Arabia also reportedly on the cards for the Brazilian.

Despite the club having a one-year extension option on the deal, Casemiro announced back in January that he will leave the Premier League once his contract expires on 30th June.

While nothing has been confirmed, ESPN reported that Inter Miami and LA Galaxy of MLS ”are among the clubs to have contacted Casemiro in recent days” over a possible transfer.

“Everyone wanted him to stay”

The report adds that Al Ittihad ”are closely monitoring the situation" and are “keen” on acquiring the services of the 34-year-old. Al Ittihad currently have Casemiro’s compatriot Fabinho in the squad, who is set to see his contract expire this summer. Added to the Saudi squad renovation is the fact that they have just let go of his former Real Madrid teammate, Karim Benzema, who moved to Al Hilal earlier this year.

The midfielder moved to Manchester United from Real Madrid back in 2022 after winning his 5th Champions League trophy. While in England, he has won just one League Cup as Manchester United have struggled to find consistency under a number of managers.

Casemiro’s Manchester United teammate Leny Yoro did not hide his feelings when asked about the future of the Brazilian: “Everyone wanted him to stay, he’s a player [who is] really important for us,” Yoro said. “Even in the dressing room, every day, he has the experience that no one else has in the team. He won everything, so this helped us a lot in the games and even outside the pitch.”
