MLS players missing during FIFA’s international break
Major League Soccer is providing several national teams with players for the FIFA date in September, with some World Cup qualifying commitments.
Major League Soccer is increasingly recognised for having players who are regularly called up for their respective national teams. As a result, during FIFA international breaks, most domestic teams, and some notably more than others, have to manage without some of their key players.
For this September international break, the MLS is contributing more than 80 players to national teams across the globe, with the majority representing teams in the Americas, though there will also be some in Europe, Africa, and Oceania. One star will also use this break to say goodbye to his international career, Inter Miami’s Luis Suárez, who announced his retirement from the Uruguay team and will play his final match at the iconic Estadio Centenario on Friday.
