Monterrey lead the way in the Clausura 2024 as Liga MX breaks for international window
Rayados hold a three point lead over Club America at the top of the table thanks to their 1-2 away win over Atlas with 12 games of the Clausura season having been played.
Unbeaten Rayados continued to impress on matchday 12 of the Clausura 2024 with a 1-2 win over Atlas and now top the table with a three point lead over América on 25 points.
The Aguilas played out an uninspired 0-0 draw away to Chivas on Saturday as the side from Monterrey open a comfortable lead on their pursuers with just five games of the regular season but the Rayados have already begun to detach themselves from his main pursuers. At present: Toluca, Cruz Azul, Pachuca and Tigres are the other teams holding direct Liguilla positions.
As things stand today, Necaxa, Querétaro, León and Chivas (16) would qualify for the new ‘Play-in’ format to discover which two sides would advance to the Liguilla.
At the foot of the table, Mazatlán, Tijuana, Puebla and FC Juárez (who have yet to record a win all season) look destined for a short campaign with their options of securing postseason action fading as the weeks go by.
Liga MX takes a break as the Mexican national side are involved in the CONCACAF Nations League Final Four where “Jimmy” Lozano’s men face Panama in the semi-final.
