More bad news for Pumas?
It has been reported that Pumas’ marquee summer signing, Aaron Ramsey, is an injury doubt for the game against Chivas.

The bad news keeps piling up for Pumas. As Los Universitarios gear up to face Chivas in Matchday 12 of the Apertura 2025, the squad is dealing with a string of setbacks that could significantly impact their lineup.
First Martínez, now Ramsey?
First, striker Guillermo “Memote” Martínez is out for the rest of the tournament after suffering a fifth metatarsal fracture that will require surgery. The injury sidelines him for approximately three months, leaving Pumas without their top scorer just as the playoff race heats up.
Compounding the issue is the absence of a replacement forward - one that never arrived during the transfer window - and the looming threat of suspension for three key players: Nathan Silva, José Luis Caicedo, and Adalberto Carrasquilla, all of whom are one yellow card away from a ban.
Now, another blow may be on the horizon.
According to ESPN, midfielder Aaron Ramsey has reported muscle discomfort during training sessions leading up to the match against Guadalajara. While the extent of the issue remains unclear, it casts doubt on his availability for Sunday’s game. Ramsey, who missed the beginning of the Apertura 2025 with a hamstring surgery, has since featured in six consecutive matches, though only three as a starter.
The timing of the injury is particularly delicate. Ramsey has just been recalled to the Wales national team for upcoming fixtures against England and Belgium, marking his return to international duty after a 13-month absence. Whether he’ll suit up for Pumas this weekend - or travel with Wales in the coming days - is still uncertain.
If Ramsey is ruled out, Pumas will be without both Martínez and their marquee summer signing for the showdown against Chivas. Fortunately, there is a silver lining: Santiago López is back in contention after recovering from a foot injury that kept him sidelined since the Leagues Cup. Caicedo also returns after serving a suspension for his red card against Tigres, which kept him out of the Matchday 11 loss to Club América.

Coach banned for crucial Chivas clash
With head coach Efraín Juárez also suspended following his outburst in the Clásico Capitalino, Pumas enter Sunday’s match at Estadio Olímpico Universitario in a precarious position. Currently sitting 10th in the table, they trail Chivas by just one point. A win could reignite their playoff hopes - but they’ll need to overcome adversity to get there.
