Munich activates ‘its hell’ as another Bayern vs Real Madrid UCL chapter draws near

Munich is already buzzing for another heavyweight European night between two clubs whose rivalry has defined generations of Champions League drama.

Munich has already unleashed the hell it usually reserves for Real Madrid every time the two meet in the Champions League. And there have been plenty of those nights, because this showdown between Real Madrid and Bayern is, without question, the European Clásico of all Clásicos. The two sides have faced each other 28 times, 14 of them with Madrid playing in Munich, in a rivalry forged over half a century. It stretches from the 1976 semifinals, which ultimately led to Bayern’s third straight European Cup, to another set of semifinals in 2024, the prelude to Madrid’s 15th crown and another of those magical nights at the Bernabéu, sealed by Joselu’s brace.

How much are tickets for Bayern vs Real Madrid?

The anticipation in the Bavarian capital is such that it took only a matter of hours for the sold-out signs to go up for the second leg, set to be played on April 15. Tickets vanished, as the saying goes. The prices would hardly have mattered, but Bayern has stuck to its policy, as clubs across Germany generally do, of keeping ticket prices affordable. Watching Madrid costs anywhere from about $21 for the cheapest seats to $122 for the most expensive.

The Allianz Arena will be a cauldron, although there will also be a strong Madrid presence in the stands. UEFA requires clubs to allocate 5% of the stadium’s capacity to visiting supporters. Madrid will therefore have close to 4,500 tickets. The official sales process has not yet opened, but there is certain to be a flood of requests and, as happens every time Madrid visits Munich, a draw under specific conditions will likely be needed.

Few games in Europe carry as much history as those between Real Madrid and Bayern. They have now met 28 times. After that comes Madrid’s 22 European Cup and Champions League games against Juventus. To add even more pedigree, two of those were finals, both won by Madrid, in 1998 and 2017. It is another rivalry with a long history, stretching from 1962 to the meeting at the Bernabéu last October, the only time the two clubs have faced each other in the past eight seasons.
