Nathan Ordaz has a bright future ahead of him and his Major League Soccer debut could come sooner rather than later. The 18-year-old has been playing with the Los Angeles Football Club academy since 2018 and on Monday he signed a contract with the first team that will run through 2025, with a club option for the 2026 campaign.

We are excited with the signing of Nathan Ordaz as our fourth-ever Homegrown signing,” said LAFC Co-President and GM John Thorrington in a team statement. “Nathan is an incredibly gifted player and it has been impressive to see him develop through the LAFC Academy. This signing is a testament to the hard work that has been going on for years from Nathan and all of our Academy coaches and staff.”

The California native will be now eligible for loan with Los Angeles FC’s USL affiliate club the Las Vegas Lights FC for the remainder of the 2022 regular season. Ordaz made one appearance for the LAFC first team during the 2022 preseason and scored a goal against Toronto FC on 2 February.

“It’s great to be signing with LAFC, I worked hard to get to where I am and this is a great first step in my career,” Ordaz said. “I am going to continue to work hard to get to the next level and it is great to join a team that plays in such an exciting fashion.”

Ordaz undecided about his international career

The 18-year-old is eligible to play for the United States, El Salvador and Mexico, but he has yet to make a decision regarding his international career. Nathan Ordaz received his first call up for El Salvador in 2021 and most recently he represented El Salvador’s U19 roster that won the 2022 Dallas Cup last week.
